Joseph Campbell believed mandalas indicate the cosmic images and patterns that are operating in our lives. They reveal the center that coordinates an individual's circle with the cosmic circle, the center from which we come and to which we shall return - the alpha and omega.
Carl Jung helped introduce mandalas to the West, using them as a therapy modality.
